Setting up your computer to connect to S & L Internet
These directions are a prerequisite to configuring a dial up profile.
Windows 95 and 98:
- Double click "My Computer"
- Verify that the "Dial up Networking" Icon is present
- If the "Dial up Networking" IS PRESENT then proceed to checking the "Network Protocols"
- If the "Dial up Networking" IS NOT PRESENT then follow the "add Dial up Networking directions"
Adding Dial up Networking:

Click "Start" then "Settings" then "Control Panel"
- Double click "Add/Remove Programs"
- Click the "Windows Setup" tab.
- Double click the word "Communications" and check the "Dial up Networking" box.
- Click OK
- You will be prompted for your Win95 or Win98 CD
Network Protocols:
-
Click "Start" then "Settings" then "Control Panel"
- Double click the "Network" icon
- The applet will default to the configuration portion
- Under the heading "The Following Network Components are Installed" you should see the "Dial up Adapter" and "TCP/IP>Dial up Adapter"
- If you see these two items all is OK, don't worry about any other items shown.
- If the "Dial up Adapter" and "TCP/IP>Dial up Adapter" are NOT PRESENT proceed.
- Click "Add"
- Click "Adapter"
- Click "Add"
- In the left window scroll down and select "Microsoft"
- Make sure the "Dial up Adapter" is highlighted in the right pane
- Click "OK"
- Click "Add"
- Click "Protocol"
- Click "Add"
- In the left window scroll down and select "Microsoft"
- Highlight TCP/IP in the right pane
- Click "OK"
- You will be prompted for your Win95 or Win98 CD
- Reboot your computer
