May 2003 updates
During the month of May we have many updates and upgrades planned. Please expect short interuptions of ALL kinds. Please
do not alter your settings, down times WILL be short. These changes are due to growing pains and have to be made so we may
continue to provide a quality service.
The following is going to be performed:
-
Email server upgrade, once again due to the heavy amounts of spam and email viruses we have to upgrade the email server. Exact date will
be posted here and on the network link off the main homepage.
- Addition of modem banks, scheduled for 05-14-03. Please expect a few disconnects or false logins Wednesday afternoon as we phase in
the new cards. The new hardware will be v.92 complient.
- Network re-alignment, this includes adjusting the IP addresses issued to the modem banks to accomodate the new cards. When we do
this, for the changes to take effect we have to "dump" all calls (hang you up). This to will be incorporated into the 05-14-03 modem
updates. The second part of the "re-alignment" will affect email and web services for a sort time (minutes). Please expect our webpages
NOT to load for short times during this week 05-13-03 to 05-16-03 small changes are made at a time and then tested. Each change requires
a restart of the webserver software.
- Bandwidth upgrade, schedule on or about 05-30-03. We are doubling our connection to the Internet, this requires a new router. Some
down times will be expected as our upstream provider makes changes on their side as well as the changes we have to make.
- Authentication server upgrade. We are upgrading the Operating system and radius software to keep up with the latest security and
software updates. If things go well with the modem upgrades on 05-14-03 this will be done as well.
Thank you,
